Biography

Dr Brown is a Specialist Physician in Orthopaedic Sport and Exercise Medicine at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust.

Dr Brown developed an interest in sport and exercise medicine while working as a GP for 15 years, first in the RAF, then Norwich and The University of Birmingham.

In 1996 he left general practice to take up an appointment as a Specialist Physician in Orthopaedic Sport and Exercise Medicine at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital. This was the first post of its kind in the West Midlands and one of only a handful throughout the country in the NHS at the time.

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, he has developed considerable expertise integrating orthopaedic, osteopathic, sport and exercise, psychological, pain and occupational medicine for the benefit of persons who are experiencing musculoskeletal problems that are impairing their health related quality of life or participation in sport and exercise at any level.

He was elected a Foundation Fellow of the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine Ireland in 2003 and UK in 2007. He is also an Associate of The Faculty of Occupational Medicine and a Fellow of The Human Givens Institute.
