About Professor Max Fehily

Professor Fehily is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and lead surgeon at The Manchester Hip Clinic, UK. He specialises in surgery of the Hip and and has a particular interest in the young athlete with soft-tissue hip problems as well as complex reconstruction of the hip in the older patient. He performs between 150 and 200 hip arthroscopy (keyhole) procedures a year (making him one of the highest volume surgeons in the UK) and has designed a comprehensive rehabilitation program to complement that surgery. He regularly treats high level athletes, ranging from dedicated amateurs to Commonwealth, World Championship and Olympic competitors. Professor Fehily works with British Cycling, English Institute of Sport (North West) as well as a number of Premier League football and rugby clubs.

Professor Fehily studied medicine at Trinity College Dublin and completed his initial surgical training both there and in the UK. He underwent specialist orthopaedic training in the North West of England and has a strong interest in research and training. During his training, he gained a Masters in Orthopaedic Engineering and published in the leading orthopaedic journals. He is an Professor at Salford University and is involved in coordinating teaching at both a regional and national basis.
