About Benjamin Dean

Ben is an Orthopaedic surgeon in training and has recently completed a PhD at Oxford University investigating the role of glutamate in rotator cuff tendinopathy.  He is particularly interested in musculoskeletal pain and factors which influence pain, as well as the influence of the placebo effect.  He is aiming to pursue a career in academic Orthopaedics and can often be found arguing on Twitter (bendean1979).  Outside of medicine, he is a keen runner and dabbles in a variety of sports, enjoys proper beer and spending time with his family.
