About Esther Clift

Esther trained at the Royal London Hospital gaining a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy in 1990. She worked initially in paediatrics, in East London and then East Africa. She returned to work with older people in a Nurse led Unit, in Southampton where she developed a passion for working with older people and undertook an MSc in Gerontology in 2011. She gained a DClinP at the University of Southampton, developing research in rehabilitation and exercise for older people in 2021. Clinically she has worked mostly in Urgent and Emergency Care settings both in ED and the community. She currently leads an Acute Frailty Service on the Isle of Wight. She is a visiting lecturer at Winchester University, leading on rehabilitation in ageing. Her specialist interests are in frailty, rehabilitation, exercise for older people, multi-professional Advanced Practice, and spirituality for older people.
