About Dr Kirsty Brightwell
Kirsty Brightwell, GP and AMD NHS Western Isles
Kirsty has lived and worked in the Western Isles since 2008 after 4 years’ GP training in Inverness. She studied in Aberdeen and has specialist interests in sexual health and sports and exercise medicine. Kirsty recently undertook training as a GP mentor. She has been a GP Principal, salaried GP, extended scope out of hours GP, clinical lead for various initiatives, a GP trainer and became the Associate Medical Director for Primary Care in 2016. Kirsty works within the Health and Social Care Partnership and as Cluster Quality Lead within the Western Isles IJB.
A traveller from an early age, Kirsty hails from London via Malaysia and New Zealand to Scotland. Holidays to far flung places are still an important part of her life. Kirsty is married with 2 children who love living in the Western Isles with the amazing array of outdoor activities. Her husband is trying to save the world through kite power. She is a swimmer trying to make the move into triathlon but is struggling in the cold water.
