This webinar is about advanced respiratory practice. Hear the stories of three respiratory advanced practitioners and their journeys into advanced practice.

SPEAKERS

Simon Hayward is a Specialist Practice Development Physiotherapist in Lung Ultrasound at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. 

Most of Simon's experience has been in acute NHS respiratory services and he has been using lung ultrasound (LUS) to inform his clinical practice since 2013. In 2016 he initiated a LUS training programme aimed primarily at physiotherapists. To date >200 Physiotherapists have attended his “Introduction to Lung Ultrasound” courses which are run around the UK and Europe. 

In 2017 Simon became a member of the Intensive Care Societies (ICS) Focused Ultrasound Intensive Care (FUSIC) committee as the Allied Health Professions (AHP) representative. He also runs the Physiotherapy Lung Ultrasound (+PLUS) specialist interest group.   


Enya Daynes is a Clinical Academic Respiratory Physiotherapist. 

This talk will cover the importance of clinical academic careers in respiratory physiotherapy and why it is an important ambition for the NHS  to increase clinical academics for AHPs. This will cover the speakers career into clinical academia as a respiratory physiotherapists and how we can support other respiratory physiotherapists to embark on a clinical academic career.


Rachael Moses

Rachael will talk about her journey becoming a Consultant Physiotherapist specialising in complex weaning, airway clearance and home ventilation.  Rachael will cover the other roles she has undertaken as well as opportunities working with organisations to develop skills that have supported her personal and professional development.  Rachael is fortunate to be working in a part time role as a national clinical speciality advisor in respiratory and will talk about the importance of AHPs taking up these roles.
